The number one challenge of many entrepreneurs is growing revenue to scale their brand. The problem is that there is so much information out there that entrepreneurs lose focus on what are the main drivers of revenue and what is required to attract more leads consistently to increase sales. I can assure you right now, that busyness does not equal more clients. So you can breathe a sigh of relief.

In this article, I am sharing with you the biggest mistake most entrepreneurs make that keep them from attracting more sales, more ideal clients and hot leads that convert online.
#1- NO STRATEGY
You don’t need to create a podcast to attract more clients. The time it will take for you to build up visibility and an audience for your show, you might as well have focused on creating a solid strategy for client attraction. And you certainly do not need to be on all the social media channels. Finally, posting quotes online will not convert sales. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t post things that inspire, I do the same but it is not how I convert sales online.
What I know works, is that you need a clear strategy. This includes solidifying your business model. I can’t tell you how many entrepreneurs do not have a business model that will actually be profitable enough to scale. Warren Buffet once shared a lesson on having a margin of safety. “You don’t drive a truck that says limit 99,000 pounds across a bridge that says limit 10,000.”
Your brand may very well have a limit too low for the vision that you are working towards. Very often when I work with clients, this is the area that is broken. It doesn’t matter how hard you work, if you don’t have a scalable business model, you will not scale. The second area is understanding the positioning that will give you a distinct competitive advantage. In a capitalist system, if your industry is profitable, others will be attracted to enter that market.
Warren Buffet says “Capitalism is always about someone coming to try to take the castle. What you need is a castle that has a moat around it.” Sometimes that means having more talent, being able to produce better results faster, etc. We help our clients identify what we call Le Creneau™. Le Creneau™ is your moat. It helps distinguish your brand from the other players in the market so that your clients know that your offer is more valuable and you’re the one they prefer to buy from. It’s powerful and has helped many of our clients double their prices and increase sales.
#2 MORE CLIENTS EQUALS MORE REVENUE
When clients first meet me, they often tell me “I want more clients.” I usually ask them “Do you want more clients or more revenue? If you’re honest with yourself, you’ll realize that you don’t want more clients. That means more busyness. More overwhelm. More time working in the business instead of on the brand to grow and scale it. You can have many clients but the quality of the sales leave you fatigued, financially strapped and even resentful.
What you need to be focused on is attracting more high-value clients. Meaning increasing the about revenue earned per client over time. Most entrepreneurs forget a very simple yet important metric for business success Lifetime Value of a Customer (LVC). Many successful brands know that it is better to create an amazing experience than retains clients so they keep buying than trying to acquire new clients. I show my clients how to focus on serving a handful of clients at a very high level so that you have more time to actually deliver high-quality service and keep your existing clients.
#3- POOR BRAND MESSAGE AND IMAGE
If people can’t see the value of what you have to offer through your message or your image, you won’t be able to attract your ideal clients. It is really important that your message is clear, concise and easily translates into value or the results that your ideal clients want. Usually, when my clients have created a strong and compelling brand message, they are able to sell their packages for twice the price with greater ease than when they were struggling to sell a low-end offer.
Most people make the mistake that because they are passionate about their product that other people will see the value. Your ability to communicate value through your brand message and your brand image is key to converting sales faster. The second thing I see is that most people make their brand about them. They make the language intellectual to show how smart or knowledgeable they are (corporate-speak). They are constantly trying to prove themselves to clients.
Always trying to prove how valuable their product is. I teach my clients how to shift the energy of their brand so that clients are excited to work with and you are communicating to their needs and their desires instead of your product and your genius.
