I was up at 3:30 a.m. getting ready for a photoshoot production with a client.

I felt very strongly that if I didn’t take the bull by the horn, one of the vendors who is usually late would throw the whole production off schedule.

So I took in front, so to speak and went to pick that person because I could not risk the impact a late arrival would have on my client’s shoot and for our amazing LA-based photographer, Starla Fortunato.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO GET THE RESULTS YOU WANT EVEN IF IT MEANS WAKING UP A LITTLE EARLIER THAN PLANNED. 


In the end, it all worked out great and we had the most amazing production and team to bring to life a vision that I had been working on for about two months.

Photoshoots are a lot of fun, work, and strategic planning.

If you just select a bunch of nice pictures and get a photographer, you will have some nice photos. But if you understand your brand essence, strategy and most of all your Globally Irresistible distinct (Brand Identity), you will have beautiful MEANINGFUL photos that can monetized.

Your branded photoshoot is not a vanity project. It is a STRATEGY. 

As an art director on the set of my clients’ photoshoots, it is about understanding the brand D.N.A and translating that into visual stories.

The right body language, wardrobe, props, scenery, and expressions that send a clear message to the market.

It takes thoughtful planning and a lot of coordination, but it is well worth it. I was happily up at 3:00 a.m. and didn’t get home until 7:45 p.m. with complete gratitude because:

It didn’t rain and I had an awesome world-class creative team of seven people who DELIVERED!

An amazing client who was easy to work with and direct.
World Class locations that were super cooperative. Execution of a powerful story that the entire team is proud of.

The last point is important. Do work that you are proud of. There is no place called perfect, but you can make everything you do a masterpiece. 

Money will never compensate for a lack of passion and passion is useless without MEANING. Everything in your brand and life has to have meaning, it is the only way to truly connect with your ideal clients.
