Last night I watched a documentary on the famous astronomer, mathematician, and astrologist Johannes Kepler. You may or may not know this but I am a total nerd (with fashion sensibility :)) and can spend hours watching documentaries on science, the planets, and math wizards. Anything that ultimately reveals the secrets of the universe.
The key takeaway from Johannes’s career and how he made his MARK, standing shoulder to shoulder in history with some of the greatest scientists is something every expert can use to create YOUR MARK OF DISTINCTION.

#1 A MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO A SINGULAR GOAL
He lived in a time when there was a clear distinction between Astronomy and Physics.
In his famous book “ASTRONOMIA NOVA” (New Astronomy), Kepler disrupted old theories and ideas about the planets’ placement and movement by incorporating physics, astronomy, astrology, and theology to create a new branch of physics called “celestial physics”. He treated astronomy as a part of UNIVERSAL MATHEMATICAL PHYSICS.
Blending different disciplines to find solutions that solve your clients’ biggest challenges is key to differentiating yourself as an expert in the market. Kepler understood that everything God created is interconnected and by understanding the universal patterns that stem from various sources, you can find solutions to achieve your goal. He was more interested in astronomy but he saw math as the language of God and integrated in his work.
#2 DON’T BE AFRAID TO REJECT THE OLD RULES
Kepler was a very confident man and had a lot of conviction around his ideas. He was meticulous in his calculations, sometimes redoing them thousands of times. So whenever he was challenged he was absolutely CERTAIN.
This gave him the courage to stand for TRUTH regardless of whether it meant rejecting the theories and systems established by industry giants.
This is why it is essential to go NARROW in your focus, have a singular goal, and then go deeper than anyone has ever gone. You can only break the rules and activate change If you know the game better than anyone else.
