This Monday, we planned to have some clients/friends over for dinner at our house. Mondays are full coaching days for me ending at 6:00 p.m. The event was scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

I always want my guest to have a great experience and I especially love cooking and treating people to sumptuous flavours.

So how would I pull this off with hardly any space on my calendar that day? I want to share my technique with you because this is very relevant to accomplishing goals.

Here are the exact steps I took to pull off the gathering that our guests are still raving about that you can use to pull off your goals:

STEP 1- POSITIONING

My partner and I are both busy so we needed a game plan to not let other activities stand in the way of achieving the goal of hosting his clients before their departure. So we decided to clearly position the event to manage our guests, expectations.

This was not going to be a dinner party with three-course menu. Instead, we decided to invite them for sunset drinks and canapés. Sunset was at 6:15 p.m. that day so the time was great.

Everyone was clear what they were getting and it would then allow me to create freshly prepared dishes given my schedule. No one would be disappointed and the goal would be achievable instead of overwhelming.

STEP 2: VISION and PLANNING

I was very clear on the experience I wanted to leave our guests with. Given that Monday was a full on schedule for me, on Sunday I planned the menu and prepped everything that could be done on Sunday. My mise en place was all done and the table was beautifully set, with all the dishes and glasses laid by 7:00 a.m. the next day.

My partner was also clear about what was required to support me in the process which made every flow. Having everyone on the same page and knowing what their role is in accomplishing the common goal is key.

Everything is in my Google Calendar so every spare 30-minutes or 15-minute break was well used that day.

It very important to have a game plan and to prep as much as you can ahead of your goal so that you increase the chances of successfully. There is often prep work required that will accelerate your efforts. How can you think ahead and work on them now?

Most people jump to the goal and forget the prep work. This is why having a clear brand strategy will set the pace for the success of your brand.

STEP 3: OUTSOURCING

I had a desire to create freshly baked French macarons for this event but did not want to make it the night before as it is always so good fresh. I decided that I would overwhelm myself and throw off everything else if I devoted time to this task. So I decided to buy an organic chocolate cheesecake which I drizzled with Saint Lucia’s delightful Chairman’s rum to add a new twist to this dessert.

This cleared up my time to create a beautiful seared salmon on quinoa and freshly baked baguette drizzled with a reduced balsamic vinegar sauce, a gorgeous baby kale salad, my signature baked chicken in white wine, a selection of cheeses and salami, and a selection of organic chips served with freshly made guacamole and hummus.

Outsourcing that one thing, gave me space and time to create multiply my output for everything else. What is one thing you can outsource that can create space for you to accomplish many more things? That will help you multiply your output?

Everything was ready on time and our guests had a beautiful experience. We all got to enjoy the sunset with some cuvée rose.

Planning is important in business and in life.

To turn any mission impossible into I’m Possible. I ended my last coaching session the moment our guests pulled into the driveway.

It was perfect timing.

Everything can flow with greater ease with planning and the right support. We cannot do it alone even if we often try.

Over the years, allowing myself to be supported has been breakthrough for me and my business. Planning and Support are key.

Tomorrow, I will be hosting a Free Live Training that will help you better plan out your brand development and success this year.

It will support you in identifying powerful ways to distinguish yourself as world-class in your market. You’ll also learn how to leverage your brand as a multiplier of all your sales and marketing efforts so that you achieve your biggest goals
